Enjoy the breathtaking nature and stunning landscapes of Ouarzazat & Ait Ben Haddou with Go Morocco Travel. During your day trip, discover the sublime Moroccan countryside while passing through Tizi N’Tichka, the highest pass in North Africa at an altitude of 2,260 meters. Admire the beautiful scenery on this journey from Marrakech to Ouarzazate & Ait Ben Haddou.
The first stop is Telouet, a kasbah along the historic caravan route from the Sahara to Marrakech. This kasbah served as the seat of the El Glaoui family’s power, often referred to as the Palace of Glaoui. Construction began in 1860, with further expansions in later years. While the palace can still be visited, it is gradually deteriorating. Restoration efforts were ongoing as of 2010, and it remains one of the grandest kasbahs in Morocco.
Next, visit the famous fortified kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a historic ksar along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, it is a prime example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture and has served as a backdrop for numerous films in Ouarzazat & Ait Ben Haddou.
After lunch, transfer to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara, with a Berber name meaning “no noise.”
Your final stop is Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. According to tradition, the kasbah was first built in the 17th century by the Imzwarn family, later expanded by the Glaoui family in the 19th century. It stands as a major attraction in this desert oasis city.
After a day filled with history and culture, you’ll return to Marrakech in the late afternoon, typically arriving back around 7 PM. This trip offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and rich Moroccan heritage.
